I hope the center point of the working week finds you all well and good as we hurtle towards the weekend?
Before we get back down to business again, I want to hip you all to our forthcoming monthly night at The Vestry on Saturday 1st May 2010. Both myself and co-Hook & Slinger, Hoppin’ John will be back behind the turntables for a soulful and funky Bank Holiday Special! Three day weekends tend to get pretty messy round these parts, so if you’re in the area make sure you get down early doors to avoid the queuing shenanigans outside!!
After several weeks coasting along here in the land of Blog, I’ve finally dragged myself back to my crates and mustered together both the time and energy to pull out a new and long overdue mix for you.
Today’s selections are a mixed bag of Soul, 50’s R&B and Funk 45s along with a couple of cheeky curveballs thrown into the mix to keep you all on your toes!
Keep an ear out in particular for The Jesse Powell Orchestra With Fluffy Hunter 45, which I recently managed to track down after what seems like an absolute age trawling various sales lists and Ebay. Luckily for me it had been incorrectly listed, slipping under the radar and allowing me to score it for a very reasonable price! It’s a real heavyweight cut that definitely does the business on the dance floor and one I’m pretty sure a lot of you will dig!
