“Oh No Not My Baby, It Just Couldn’t Be Him”

Welcome back!

I hope everyone is all well and good? As we hit mid week I thought I'd share a new 45 that I've recently aquired.

With a constant influx of new Funk and Soul outfits releasing 45s, new singles have to be something pretty special to stand out from the crowd. The Transatlantics are one such band whose new 45, 'Couldn't Be Him' certainly sticks out and definately caught hold of my ear.

Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, this 8 piece Funk band have really been making their mark on the scene, having recently supported the likes of Marva Whitney, Eddie Bo and Roy Ayers amongst others.

'Couldn't Be Him' is a great Southern Soul sounding number with amazing vocals from singer, Tara Lynch. The band have been likened to "A young, white Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings", which is certainly a big compliment to live up to.

The single is lifted from their new self titled LP, 'The Transatlantics', released on the formidable Freestyle Record Label and should be available online and in all good record shops.

If you're privileged enough to live 'Down Under' then you can catch The Transatlantics live at the following dates:

31st Oct 2010 - Massive Halloween Boat Part - Port Adelaide, SA, AUSTRALIA

27th Nov 2010 - The Transatlantics & Electric Empire - NORTHCOTE SOCIAL CLUB, VIC, AUSTRALIA

4th Dec 2010 - Club Party - ROCKET BAR, SA, AUSTRALIA

Be sure to support the band by also checking them out at the following links:

Enjoy today's 45, stay safe and I'll be back shortly with a very special Guest Mix for you.
